There are two methods of monitoring the "transmit audio" CW sidetone on
the MP.

One way is to turn on the front panel MONI switch and use the MONI volume
pot to adjust the monitor volume.  Clearly, this method is intended to
monitor yourself during voice transmissions -- very handy while making
the many adjustments available to tailor the SSB transmit
characteristics.

Normally you should monitor CW sidetone with the front panel MONI switch
turned off.  I don't have the manual handy, but I know its volume is
controlled by a "set-and-forget" pot, either under the flip-up top cover
(obviously somewhere else on the MK V) or through a screwdriver hole in
the back panel.
