[1000mp] RTTY

A few of us here in Minneapolis wanted to be able to use our 500 (or 400hz
INRAD) filters for ARRL RTTY RU while using the AFSK tones from our sound
cards. It's very easy and straightforward to do. Here's how:
Wire the computer MIC Out to an isolation 1:1 transformer (Radio Shack
273-1374), cost $4. The other side of the transformer is wired to a 5-pin
DIN plug that connects to the Packet port on the radio. Cable length between
the computer MIC Out -> 1:1 transformer -> radio is not important.
The radio receive is wired from the radio (MkV in my case) Audio Out, fixed
gain, to another 1:1 transformer. Same part number from Radio Shack to the
Line In of the sound card. Some of us didn't use the transformer and it
worked fine for them
Put the radio in Packet mode using LSB and now you can use the Narrow
filters for AFSK RTTY and packet modes including PSK31, MFSK, etc.

As a very occasional RTTY contester, I typically use AFSK (N1MM/MMTTY) and
just feed the transmit audio to my radio through the same mike jack cable I
use with my DXD for SSB. Till now, I have just used LSB, and it has seemed
to work fine, but I have cascaded INRAD 400 Hz filters in the radio and it
would sure be neat to be able to use those filters in AFSK. I've been
through the manual and haven't seen an answer to this, but wonder if
something like you describe can be done with my setup.
