[1000mp] Filters for 1000mp

Hi guys,



is there any "common sense" filter configuration for the MP ?

I am doing a little bit of contesting here and getting sick already of 500Hz 
OEM filter the radio come with.

the filter set I have in mind is INRAD 708B 250Hz filter on 8.2M and INRAD 
704C 125Hz filter on 455k.

Isn't 125 too narrow? Should I go with 250 @ 455k?

What about SSB mode, 2.1 or 1.8? And what IF?



I understand that I can spend a grand and fill up all the slots in radio. 
Can I do it gradually? Something like putting only one 250 Hz filter, trying 
it out, adding 125 if it feels too wide etc.
