Is there any way to look up messages on this subject?

I have a separate receive antenna which I sometimes find useful; however, 
I'm now concerned I may not be doing enough to protect the FT-100MP MkV. I 
do have an external box which routes in the external RX antenna line and 
which incorporates two 1N914 diodes back-to-back to ground on the antenna 
line but this may not be enough.

The RX out and RX in jacks at the back of the radio are invaluable if you
are going to use an external RX antenna and/or you wish to use a noise
cancellation device such as an MFJ-1025/1026. The RX out provides the
received signal from the transmitting antenna. The RX in accepts an input
from an antenna that is not the transmitting antenna. The front panel
control for selection of antennas has an option for RX or A/B . If you
select RX the radio looks for the receiving signal to be coming in from the
RX in jack and uses A or B as the transmitting antenna.

If you do choose to have a separate RX antenna be absolutely certain to
provide RF voltage protection for the RX in line so that you do not damage
the front end of the FT1000X. The best system is to ground it when
transmitting. Many past reflector messages have commented on this and
provided information.

If you use noise cancellation, such as an MFJ-1026, the RX out jack will
provide a sense antenna signal that can feed into the AUX port of the 1026.
The RX antenna would go into the MAIN port of the unit. The output of the
unit goes into the RX in port on the back of the radio. It is a very simple
and elegant way to handle the challenge of line noise(or other noise)
cancellation.
