Can you connect to the radio using another computer and a cable you are sure
about?

Subject: [1000mp] Serial Port Dead
Thanks all for the suggestions; to take them all in turn -
My laptop serial port works fine with other things, eg., GPS stream input.
I tried the test4MP program, and it flashes my comport 4 lights when it
tests for it (and this is the port that I try to connect to the Mark 5 to)
says it is present but the Mark 5 is not connected to it.
I do not know if the null modem is built into the rig; I do know that the
instruction manual says to use a straight cable, and not to use a null modem
cable. So I used a straight cable. (It does appear to me that latterly the
CAT section of the manual has been greatly expanded, as I can find nothing
to complain about re the information given. Unless of course, they erred...)
I was wondering if there is an on/off switch for that connector in the upper
(nomrally hidden) menu; or if anyone else had had a similar problem.
Failing that, I could try a null modem cable in desparation, I suppose.
