[1000mp] Serial Port Dead

i had to use a null modem connector with mine.

Rob, I don't think there are any hidden menu settings
for the CAT port on the 1000.  It does use a regular
modem (straight-thru) cable and not a Null-modem
cable.

My serial port went out on the radio.  I had Paul
Hansen in South Carolina replace the serial chip in
the radio.  If you look at the schematic, the
inputs/outputs of the serial chip are not isolated. 
Near as I can figure, I had a loose serial cable and
some RF got into the chip and "poof"

I hope your's is simpler like a pin on a cable or
something like that.
Be sure the serial port on the computer is set for
4800 baud, no parity, 8 data bits and 2 stop bits
(4800, N, 8, 2).  I've had an occasional problem where
some other program(or windows) will reset this setting
and my CAT funtions stop working.  Also, just for
grins, you might try another Modem cable.
