[1000mp] Serial Port Dead

Since you are using a laptop I assume you are using a USB to serial adaptor
unless it is an older machine. For reasons unknown (it must be related to
the RS232 voltage levels) my laptop with a USB to serial converter will work
fine with four different radios but not the MARK V Field. It does however
work fine with an old desktop and a built in RS232 port.

Subject: [1000mp] Serial Port Dead

I got my Mark V Field a few months ago, and have tried several times to get
it to work with Ham Radio Deluxe and my laptop. However, the serial port
appears utterly dead, and that out of the box. I have checked all the
connections, established that the 'puter is sending requests via the right
line, understand that the null modem is built into the radio and I don't hve
to provide it, and am attempting 4800 8n2 communication. No joy. Never even
a flicker on the CAT light, and never a response to my 'puter.

Am I missing something, is there some sort of switch that turns the port
off, or is it likely is really was dead out of the box?

Here's hoping...
