[1000mp] roofing filter

Greetings....  I think I may have one of the last "Fields" sold, as it is 
around 3 months old now. I was assured that the key click problem was fixed 
at the plant starting late 2004. So, I hope I'm ok there. I had an MP I had 
bought used that has 400 hz Inrads for cw and both 2.1 khz for ssb, and I 
had put the roofing filter in right before I had to sell it.My car died, so 
as much as I had rather kept the MP, I sold it.

A few months ago, I was able to buy a new MP Field. And I never really had a 
chance to use the MP after installing the roofing filter. I know I need at 
least a 400 hz filter in the third IF. After the roofing filter has been out 
a while now, is it considered  a good bang for you buck? It will be used for 
the most part for cw contesting. The reason I ask is because my friend 
bought one for his Omni 6 Plus and really couldn't tell that much 
difference. I know we are talking about different radios here, but it would
