[1000mp] Question

Hi Dick,

I just have to comment. These are some real coincidences here. I have a
Mark-5 Field, I work mostly CW and RTTY. I have 3,030 QSOs so far in 2006
and of those only 23 are SSB. And I've worked you 3 times in 2006, 2 CW & 1
RTTY. Oh and one more thing, I'm from Independence, MO.

To your question, I did answer it on Dec 8th. Did you try what I suggested?

I'll try again. You can use your CW filters in AFSK RTTY. Here's how:

1. Make sure your rig is set for Hi Tones. That is done in menu 6.2.
2. Don't put your rig in SSB for AFSK RTTY, change the mode in PKT for AFSK
RTTY.
3. In MMTTY set the Mark for 2050. That should get your signal in the
middle of the filter's passband.

I do this myself so I know it works, though usually I run FSK I do have a
copy of MMTTY setup for AFSK. If you use N1MM Logger and you have both the
500 and 250 Hz CW filters in your rig you should be able to setup the
software to select either filters (something you cannot do from the control
panel of the Mark-5 Field).

Subject: [1000mp] Question

I run a Mark-5 Field. I work CW and RTTY. In 2006 I have to date made 3127
QSO's, of which only 8 ( yes, eight ) are SSB. At this time I run RTTY in
AFSK. I may or may not changed to FSK for RTTY. I need some narrow
filtering. I know I can get it with FSK if I make the change.

But, if I would stay with AFSK, can I put a 1.8 INRAD filter in the 2nd IF
and a 500 filter in the 3rd IF ? Would this work for RTTY?
I do not see a 500 Hz INRAD filter for SSB. Would the 500 Hz CW filter INRAD
has work in the 3rd IF slot for RTTY if I activate it in the menu ?

I know some will say "FSK only" or give me "work arounds" to use. Been
through all that discussion. I am not interested in SSB and it would not be
a problem to have a 500 Hz narrow filter in the SSB slot. Would what I am
asking about work ok ?

73 and thanks Dick KS0M
