HI Ted,
I have the same rig as you and both 500s and both 250s filters. You can use
both 500s (NAR1) or both 250s (NAR2) from the front panel in CW. To do the
same with RTTY you have to mess with the menus. If you have software that
can set the filters for you you can select any combination you want. I use
N1MM Logger in contests and it has the ability to set both 500s amd 250s. I
use DXLab Suite's WinWarbler (what a great software suite) for chasing DX
and tuning around and you can set the filters in any combination you want.
For RTTY I find both 500s too wide at times and both 250s too narrow for
tuning around. It's nice to have the option of selecting the 500 in the 2nd
IF and the 250 in the 3rd. That falls between both 500s and both 250s. The
250 selected in the 2nd IF and the 500 in the 3rd IF slightly narrow that
both 500s.

Subject: [1000mp] RTTY filtering
I am new to RTTY (and thoroughly enjoying the mode) so excuse a facile
question....
I use MMTTY software, and AFSK running from my PC sound card, buttons on
FT1000MP MKV field set to "PKT & LSB"
I use a Rigblaster plus interface.
It works absolutely fine no problems, I use both NOR & NAR2 (which I presume
is the 500Hz filter) on the bandwidth settings, I have read that the
receiver would benefit greatly selectivity wise by using a 250Hz filter?
Which one do I fit is it the 2nd IF one YF-114CN...or the 3rd IF one
YF-110CN.. or do I have fit them both (hope not because of cost!).
Presumably the 500Hz filter becomes "redundant" only to be reset by the
menu selection 5-4? and "losing "the 250Hz one.
Would the "new" 250Hz filter (wherever fitted) also be useable on the CW
setting?
Any answers much appreciated
73 Ted
