Hello Frans
Last week I bought an MP and the Max232 was blown....
I have replaced it. It is very easy to get to the control board...
The longest job is to mark all the connectors so you have no problems when
you get the connectors to their respective place...after the job is done..
Must also say that this MAX232 is very small.
You have to be careful when you remove it, because there are small
capacitors in the same corner...and the pins are very closed to each
other....
That is surface mount max232 ...and it very tiny....
You can do it, for sure...

Subject: [1000mp] finding FT1000MP MArk V Field Controlboard
Hi I'm new on the FT1000MP reflector.
I have the following question...
I was in the unfortunate position a day ago, most likely blow the max232 on
my brand new transceiver. (FT1000MP Mark V Field)
I had some RF feedback on the computer line... it worked FB until the moment
I switched to 40m and made a qso using 100W. certainly the log showed a
strange qrg and from that moment I'm not able to use the CAT. On the radio
the CAT indicator stopped flashing....
I tried my laptop, same problem. So most likely the max232 has been
fried!!!!!!!!!!!
Question, have someone ever replaced the max232 chip Q5006 located on the
control-board??? If yes how bad is it to get to the control_board? Perhaps
some one can tell me if there are components position drawings available for
the FT1000MP M_V F
I have been working with CAT on my TS850sat using opto-couplers never had a
problem... this is the first time using a new rig without the couplers, I
thought such a nice piece of equipment has the protection build in...
but.... it does not... shame.
So first thing to do after repairs... make a interface with opto
couplers....!!!!!
So I kindly ask for some advise....
Best regards... and looking forward to the replies
Frans... pa5ca
