Hi from Steve G0UIH
A quick thank you to EI7BA, W1TO, OH7WV & SM0KCO who posted info on VA3CR.net
I had a problem occur yesterday in which I had no rx/tx on 7.499mhz and
below.
I checked voltages at TP4003 on the Local Unit and everything that was being
controlled by TC4001 was way out, reading 12.6 volts.
After following the advice on the web page, I carefully inspected the solder
joints in and around TC4001 and then found that when putting slight pressure
on the green coil, the unit sprung into life. So out came the board and I
resoldered some of the joints on the back side on the local unit, especially
ones around the coil. For good measure I went over solder contacts what I could
(without doing any SMC work) I then re-connected the board.
Well - a little time and patience paid off. Following reasemble, the rig
burst into life on all bands. I then re-checked the voltages at TP4003 and the
values for the 4 test freqs below 7.5mhz were all correct and within limits.
Tnx again guys -
73 Steve G0UIH
