I'm still learning the ropes with my new FT-1000 Mk-V Field but it does have 
one puzzling quirk. The VRF function has been intermittent, that is, 
sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, Currently, it will not work on 
any band above 20 meters.
What happens on 17 meters and up is that the VRF light will not come on when 
I press the button on the Shuttle Jog and the function will not work. I have 
tried every combination to see whether there are any exceptions to this and 
there don't seem to be any, i.e., it won't work on USB, LSB, CW, etc. Nor 
does it matter whether the frequency is arrived at from memory, direct 
entry, whatever.
This does not appear to be mechanical or electrical since the function works 
perfectly on 20 meters and down. (VRF doesn't work on General Coverage 
frequencies but this may be the design). This has happened before and, I 
believe, went away but I didn't take careful notes.
Does anyone have any thoughts?
