George:
Just FYI:
Someone here mentioned that they nulled the carrier, which is a good explanation. I also have a MK V with a high gain amp (HF2500DX using 4cx800s) and I experience no visible overshoot problems. After applying the INRAD Key click mod, I measured the cw envelope with a digitizing oscilloscope, and I measured a rise and fall time (10 - 90%) of 2.8 ms. That's still a little quick (ARRL recommends 5 ms), but I saw no overshoot, ringing, etc. I have had many listen and the opinion is that the 2.8 ms did not sound hard. I did not measure the rise/fall prior to making the mod.

Subject: [1000mp] Re: MK V service manual
I needed some parts for my MKV 200w radio and I ordered the service
manual and parts from Yaesu, it was approx $25.00-30.00. The manual is
actually called a "technical supplement" and it is part #EH006H901.
I have not tried my radio with an amp, but before I do I am going to
build the SS t/r sequencer in the 2001 handbook and try that. I am not
really sure that will solve the problem but I want to build one for my
boatanchors anyway.
Thanks, George W5GRG
