[1000mp] PIN Diode mod

Hi all,
Wonder if anyone has done the pin diode mod to the 1000mp ?
I had previously had a look inside the Bandpass filter shielded enclosure by popping the lid and was going to remove the entire shield to make the diode swop easier !......But just had a thought that maybe it was possible to swap the diodes with the shield in place ?
Thus......anyone with any experience of this ???

ps.....Joe....previous e-mail to reflector.....the ribbon cable is locked in place by a pushdown clamp on the socket once the ribbon has been inserted !
