I haven't been following all of the emails so I may be off the mark but this
link has a schematic for control cables for a FT-1000MP. I have the
microHAM micro KEYER and bought these cables premade. All functions
including RTTY on my FT-1000MP MARK-V work great with these cables. The
schematic shows which jacks and pins to use!

Hi Dick,
I am also a new FT1000MP owner (original model) but can ask a question or 2
at least. Did you try hooking it to the RTTY jack in the back of the rig
instead of the packet? At least the FT1000MP has separate jacks for RTTY
and packet.
John....The manual says to use the Packet DIN plug for AFSK RTTY. That
plug will not fit in the RTTY jack. I have tried. Also, I have used the RTTY
and PKT buttons on the front of the Mark-5. I can receive but no TX. I
probably will have to give up and go ahead and set it up for FSK> But, I
wanted to work the RTTY contest this week end. Guess I will do the FISTS CW
SPRINT instead. hi .
Also, how do you like the 250hz filters in both IFs? I have the 500hz in
both IFs and the 250hz in the 2nd IF, but don't have it in the 3rd IF yet.
Do you think that the cascaded 250hz filters make a big difference over the
cascaded 500hz filters? I do plan on getting the INRAD roofing filter in a
month or so when funds allow.
John.... I just got this rig on the air last Thursday. Had it a week before
I even fired it up. Spent my time reading the very large manual. This rig is
a lot more complicated than my 16 year old Paragon. I am not sure I can give
you a good evaluation about the cascaded 250 Hz filters as I have not used
it enough to advise you. However, I think I will like the 250's as today it
sure helped when I was working the J6/G3TBK on 30 meters. I have both 500's
and both 250's cascaded and I think this is going to be ok. When I have the
money I think I will put in the INRAD 400 Hz roofing filter. Then later
the 500 Hz in the sub-VFO. Man, it sure is slick to work split. I have the
split set up so I am up 5 when I hit the split button rather than the same
frequency. Most splits are up 3 to 5 and it seems easy for me to use it this
way. I only work CW and RTTY, so not sure if I will put in the INRAD 2.0 KHz
filters. I am rarely on SSB. In fact, I didn't have a mic for my Paragon the
16 years I used it.

It is going to take some time to learn all the ins and outs of this rig.
Maybe I can offer more help later. The Mark-5 seems to be a great rig and I
am pleased that I got this one.
