[1000mp] Preamp setting

Hi John,
I usually use the tuned pre-amp. I'm told the flat response pre-amp emulates
or is the actual pre-amp used in the FT1000 and FT1000D.
As with most of these things, a lot of experimentation is critical, because
what works for me may not work with me. For example, someone with very large
stacked antennas may find the flat response pre-amp better than his friend
across the road with dipole antennas - who might find tuned better.
One thing that i think makes a dramatic difference is the roofing filter
which I've installed on both a MK5 and a MK5 field.
Enjoy the rig - it truly is one of the best available.
Regards,

Subject: [1000mp] Preamp setting
Just got my FT1000MP in yesterday, and wow! what a radio! Still figuring
out all the things it can do. What preamp setting do most people prefer? I
have it set right now to the tuned setting, which seems to actually have a
negative gain on the low bands to keep the front end from being overloaded
(at least the MDS in the QST review seemed to indicate this), and then has a
decent gain on the higher bands. Is the flat preamp better to use?
