[1000mp] Frozen main VFO knob

I had the same thing happen to my 1000D two years ago.
I called Yaesu and was told to remove the knob, add a few drops of WD-40 and 
gently rock the shaft back and forth.
After some hesitation I tried it and it gradually loosened up and works good 
as new to this date.
Evidently the factory lubrication gradually dried up until the shaft seized.

Might give it a try. Add the WD-40 a drop at a time from the knob side and is 
should start to loosen working the shaft back and forth.
