Hello John:

To set up the option, to use the wider 2nd and 3rd IF filtering, go to menu
5-0, SSB normal, and select 8.2-455 over the main tuning dial.

If you have previously installed narrow SSB filters, and they were appearing
in bandwidth position NAR 1, you will find a change.

Now, NOR will select thru in the 2nd IF and 6.0 khz in the 3rd IF. NAR 1
will be cascaded 2.4 filters in the 2nd and 3rd, and NAR 2 will be your
optional narrow pair, if they are installed, both cascaded.

When you select the IDBT button, you take control of both the 2nd and 3rd IF
filters while adjusting both the SHIFT and WIDTH controls. So while you are
using the EDSP filters, after the 4th mixer, the CPU sets the DSP filter to
match the analog selections in the 2nd and 3rd IF, and tracks all
adjustments together.

So, once you then engage the IDBT, you are controlling both the analog
filters as well as the digital filters following the 4th mixer and before
the AF amplifier.

Try the change in menu 5-0, and see how you like the reception of both large
and small signals. Notice that you will have maximum fidelity with this
option, which is particularly noticeable with strong wide signals. For more
selectivity, and less fidelity, but still with low noise, add the IDBT
function.

Regards,

Mike
