[1000mp] KEYBOARD CW

The FT-1000(D), FT-1000MP, FT-1000MP/MKV and FT-1000MP/MKV Field
do not support sending CW from the CAT interface. You must use
an interface of some kind to generate CW from N1MM, WinWarbler
(DXLab), DX4WIN, DXBase, etc.

Most of not all of those programs can use a simple single transistor
or optoisolator interface driven by the DTR line of a serial port
or a line from the parallel port.

Another, more reliable, interface is the WinKey keyer kit from
K1EL. WinKey accepts ASCII data from a serial port and converts
it to CW ... WinKey uses hardware to generate CW rather than
rely on timing loops in the computer software. Timing loops can
be disrupted resulting in "choppy" CW - the external ACSII -> CW
conversion overcomes this problem. If you do not have an available
serial port the WinKey can be operated from a USB to serial adapter
if you modify the WinKey for external power. www.k1el.com

Finally, microKEYER from MicroHam (www.microham.com) is a commercial
implementation of WinKey that also includes a USB interface, radio
control, and audio isolation/switching for digital modes in a single
unit.

Both WinKey and microKEYER allow use of paddles as well as the
computer keyboard.
