[1000mp] Interesting

It's the combination of the 1st IF being more narrow, and the higher gain in
the 1st IF from the 2 stage amplifier, which greatly exceeds the insertion
loss from the new filter. This in turn allows you to lower the IF gain in
menu 9-1, and there you have it.
All of this, plus all the benefits of the 6 pole crystal filter itself,
i.e.. reduction of whiskering from nearby stations, IMD improvements, BDR
improvements, DR improvements, etc.
Now, do the noise blanker mod and finish the job. It's only one component
change.

Tuning around tonight after installing the roofing filter this afternoon and
notice that the bands appear to be a lot quieter. Quiet as in lack of
static and other normal noise that I hear. Still plenty of stations. Just
not sure if it is the roofing filter (since I really didn't know what to
expect) or conditions. If it is the roofing filter, I like it.
