[1000mp] preference question

I had two FT1000s and they were a good rig, but it has a noisy fan,
weighs a bunch, has only 10 hz tuning resolution, slowest tuning speed
is 10 Khz per dial revolution, the DR is ok, but not that much better
than a MKV and with the INRAD roofing filter the MKV is better.
Frankly, if I had a choice between the FT1000 and a MKV I'd take the
MKV with the INRAD roofing filter every time.

The MP is a good rig too, but the display is somewhat goofy to look at,
however with time you would get used to it. I do like the filter
selection in the MP better than the MKV although you can do the same
within MKV menu settings, (don't need a computer program), but it's
more clumsy. Ergonomics are a bit different MP v. MKV and I like some
of those better in the MKV, personal choice. Receiver performance
stock MP v. MKV is about the same. BTW, I had two MPs a few years ago
also, a very early one when they first came out and a then a later
version. Both were trouble free. The early version MP you could not
adjust the power output when you had the speech processor turned on.
There was a Yaesu modification that corrected it.

As far as I'm concerned the MKV is one of the best if not the best
value out there today.
