[1000mp] RE: Mark V resetting while running an amp on 10M

Jim, I'm the one with the reset issue, not Bob Main.

I changed monitors recently to a flat panel, and when I was using the
amp on 10 saw crosshatching on the monitor, which showed that was RF
getting into it. I put ferrite chokes on all leads to the monitor and to
the computer, and that solved that RFI issue (visible anyway). Speech
through the monitor function on the Mark V sounded fine. I have, as
suggested, moved my CW key to the jack on the back panel, and will be
testing this today. I'll also put some ferrite beads on all leads
running into the Mark V, it certainly can't hurt.

Hi Bob,

I've found that items plugged into the front panel jacks of the MkV will

enable any RF floating around the shack to get into the MkV. Does your
monitor sound horrible on SSB? Do you hear a growling sound when
talking even with the Moni button on and the Moni knob turned all the
way down? Unplug or put ferrites on all the leads plugged into the
front and, in my experience, the RF problems go away. Well, those
problems. I've got so much RF in the shack on 80 that my 2nd monitor
goes black every time I send cw.
