[1000mp] MkV Field - Weird NB behavior

I have a new Field which does a weird thing:  Occasionally (but not always) 
when I push the NB button ON, the VFO-A frequency display starts to scan 
down in frequency at the rate of about 100Hz per second. Push NB OFF, and 
it stops. The VFO-B display is not affected.

Undocumented feature or sw bug or hardware malfunction??
