Hello Yaesu Fans:
This issue has been reported over and over again here, for the Mark V. It
appears to be found on many units.
It may have something to do with the voltage level which is supplied to the
display, possibly to promote longer life. There are some published mods to
increase the brightness of the display to a higher level. But I personally
don't know if increasing the voltage and improving the brightness will
eliminate the variable delay in the illumination of the display. Perhaps
someone who has done the modification, will report this information here.
Most users don't fret over this quirk of the Mark V. The display is quite
reliable, and while some years back there were some failures from perhaps a
bad batch of displays reported, this is not considered problematic today.
Welcome to the Mark V fraternity.
73 and Happy DXing,
Mike Schatzberg
