[1000mp] Mark-V Fan Removal Help

Hi Mike:

Hmmm. I ust did two MPs for a friend and you don't need to remove the
fan, just the screws and let it dangle.

But, I believe I did remove the fan on my MKV when I did the mods in
March.  Are there not two sheet metal screws that hold the fan assembly
to the chassis ? Remove those, then unclip the wiring harness in the left
rear on the power board and it should come free.  I assume you've already
removed the speaker leads.

I'll make the point that for either the MKV or the MP that you do not
need to remove the RF board, merely remove the screws and the "L" shaped
fence, disconnect the ribbon cable and flip the board over to gain
access.  It may help to turn the radio on its side, so that the board
faces up.  The cap is added near the middle of the board and you should
not be hindered.  I always remove as little as possible.

Also, use some liquid flux and very small gauge solder.  That will make
the soldering to the SMT components and board much easier.
