I'm also aware that this radio had not been used for many years by the
previous owner and this might have something to do with this problem.

Further to my last post, here is some more info for you all.
The rig switches on to 7.000Mhz, but only the main RX is working.
The main RX will tune as normal, but of course no modes can be selected.
If I plug a mic in, it will TX OK with full power.
At switch on, the current is about 2 amps rising to about 6 amps withing
minutes.
