Flat preamp gives you less gain on the upper bands, 10 & 15. Tuned
gives you more gain on the upper bands but tuned is about the same as
preamp off on the lower bands. I leave my MKV in tuned as I don't need
the extra gain on 75 and I do need the extra gain on 10 and 15. All
flat will give you is more noise on 75. My recommendation is to set
your preamp to tuned and leave it there.
