It may not be that big of an issue.  Check and see how N4PY does this with 
his software.  Rather than have two pieces of software communicating with 
the radio, I think that he's set it up so that his rig control software 
communicates with the radio, and then transmits its data to writelog. 
Unfortunately, it doesn't support MPs.
