Hi Jim:

Your right about AFSK. One the advantages of my setup is when you go the 
"packet" mode it shuts off the processor for you. So that eliminates one of 
the two problems areas. For me the mike setting is not a problem as I setup 
my software with some care and I don't change my mike gain setting ever. I 
set the mike gain for SSB and then adjusted the audio from the computer for 
proper operation on AFSK and PSK31. So to go from SSB to digital, I just 
start the software push and hold the PKT button (or dial in the proper 
memory channel) and I'm on a well setup digital station.
