[1000mp] using mark v on am

I use my Mark V on AM, driving an SB-220 on 80.  The guys who hang around
3.880 (Southern CA) could not guess what rig, but guesses included most of
the old BA gear!  It is very important to set up the audio correctly.  I
just changed mics, and everyone also told me how terrible it sounds.  As far
as moni, I never use it - I would rather get on-air reports from a trusted
friend, or, listen on another radio.  It just seems useless, and I couldn't
really hear subtle differences that were quite evident from listening on my
75A4.  But from I can tell on this list, many think it is the best thing
since sliced bread - each to his (or her) own.  Tom W6EIJ
