[1000mp] 1000MP Audio in Speaker on TX

Steve,

I understand the problem as you describe it -- but it must not be universal.
I have an old FT-1000MP (very early build) and also a new Mark V that I
purchased only a few months ago -- so both ends of the spectrum. Neither
exhibit that problem. Perhaps I am just fortunate that the RF issues in my
shack do not add to or aggrivate the problem. Both units are set up using
the Yaesu SP-8 Speakers. From time to time, however, I have used them with
other speakers - Radio Shack, Icom, Kenwood, etc.

I only mention this to show that at the worst this is a problem not
impacting all units.

-Bill, WA9MXQ

Hi Graham - tnx for reply.
MP is the DC version and yes is has got worse over time.
It also makes no difference if you use the internal and external
speaker.(For info, my external unit is fully filtered).

The rig is at Castle Electronic and they say that Yaesu are aware of the
problem but no fix is available.Geoff at Castle has been very helpful and
has offered to try and fix it, but says it could take quite a few hours as
this would be their first attempt at this problem and could not guarantee a
remedy, so at £50 an hour or so i could end up paying £200+ for nothing and
even Geoff at Castle suggested this was not the best route. He has offered to
supply me a circuit diagram that will mute the speaker, so at least this can
be done at my own leisure without huge expense.

I think i'll try this with view to upgrading to a MK5 which i now understand
doesn't suffer from this.
Thanks for the info

PS - Am still baffled that no one has come across this before, even now you
are the only one to reply. Geoff has said that he's had quite a few
enquiries with the same problem.
