[1000mp] Mark V high SWR with amp

When i have had rf probs like this, i have observed excessive ALC action, and the the swr meter jumping up and down with my voice peaks.  
the max is around 1.5 to 2:1.  on cw, all okay.  I thought of this, except that he had the problem on cw and ssb, and according to him, the swr was way higher.

I had this problem on Field Day with a 2m whip located too close to the 
MkV.  Whenever the 2m rig was keyed up the SWR shown by the MkV would go 
way up.  Caused some excitement for a while until we figured it out.

So, have you done anything that would increase RF in the shack?
