[1000mp] high swr between rig and amp

I have tried this. the problem is that you wind up chasing a moving target. the trouble may go away, on the original problem band, and reappear elsewhere becuase the fix length that's okay for the original problem is now the wrong length on another band.
however that kind of problem is usually shown by a slightly high swr, like 1.5 to one; not this problem. Remember that in the original post, he said he had full scale swr meter deflection. that sounds more like an open somewhere in the rf path.

I've had this problem myself especially with the WARC bands.
Even on amps that had tuned inputs.
I used an old trick I was taught by my Elmer.
Just add in a random amount of coax to the piece between the rig and amp.
You will 'probably' see a difference and may have to try a couple pieces.
I'm not sure of the exact theory of why this works...but then I'm still wondering why
people at the south pole don't fall off into space.
