Really, the best way to tell is to put a Bird between the rig and antenna if
you want to see the true swr. I NEVER trust the meters built into the rig. I
always have a bird in line.

Just my opinion may very.

I had this problem on Field Day with a 2m whip located too close to the 
MkV.  Whenever the 2m rig was keyed up the SWR shown by the MkV would go 
way up.  Caused some excitement for a while until we figured it out.

So, have you done anything that would increase RF in the shack?
