[1000mp] Mark V high SWR with amp

I have owned a Alpha 99 and now
an Alpha 87a; Alpha does recommend
using a 6 foot length of 50 ohm coax
between the rig and input to the Amp.

Just a suggestion.

Well let me replay the descriptiomn.

The amps are Alpha 99 and Alpha 89.

  These are modern amps.

  Next:

The swr on the out meters of a Bird and Nye Viking Tuner show output swr fine.

  Swr on amplifier says ok

SWR when running barefoot no problem on the rig.
Once I switch on the amp the problem occurs. Seems like there is a mismatch back to the input side althought the output side says everything is ok.

I will call Yaesu on Monday and describe the situation.

Only other thing I can think of is NKE Viking tuner being in line. Gonna take it out of line and run and see what happens. Would sound strange if the tuner but could be possible.

It sounds like you are saying that your set-up WAS
working fine, but now you have a high swr when
running with your amp. Try inserting an swr meter
between the two to verify the reading on your MK5.
If the reading is high, there is a problem with
the amp. It could be a problem with the amp's
input circuit (tuned or broadband), this is not
likely though.. It could also be a bad tube in the
amp. Also check the transmit/rcv relay in the amp.
