Dear Bob

After the roofing filter is a amplifier installed, this must compensate the
insert losses of the filter.

But the insert losses are not so high, so you have to reduce the IF gain in
the receiver.

I have got to ask this because it is bugging the heck out of me. First, I
have no doubt the roofing filter works, but everybody is having to reduce
the IF-Gain to cut back on the additional noise that is now received. Dumb
question, if you cut back on the IF-Gain BEFORE you install the roofing
filter won't that also cut back on the noise? Just thinking that if the
noise is what is bothering you then reduce the IF-Gain now instead of later.

BTW I do plan on ordering the roofing filter too, but that has just been
bugging me.
