Here is the problem.  First you should have never got such a samll YES 
SMALL radio i n the first place.   How about a Hallicrafters SX-101 and 
an HT 32  to start now I would say you would have a good chance to get a 
smaller radio.  Yes the FT-1000 is bigger than a lot of radios but it is 
still in the SMALL catagory   So keep it and keep her and get a bigger 
desk and I didn't mean  E F Johnson Desk either but just a thought.
