Hi all, reading with interest the comments that the latest line of 1000mp roofing filters have less insertion loss.
Fitted my filter a week ago.
My rig original 1000mpdc.
My original setting for IF gain 9.1 was 16 this has had to be reduced to 10 and 9 seems very good also, its now down to fine tuning between the two, subject to the following.
My main rx s meter even with a setting of 10 is indicating 1 s point more than the sub rx.
I do have a problem though, in AM mode and listening to strong 40 metre broadcast stations backing the rf gain right off to almost +60 db the IF takes off or something in that area does.....( when the detector locks)
I have improved the situation though by providing 2 soldered earth straps from front and back of the inrad board to the af pcb earth foils.
i have not had much time as yet to really sort the problem out..........wonder if anybody has similar problems ?????
It only happens on AM.
All other modes are OK and the rx sounds fine, plus a lot quieter.
Of coarse its quite possible that i'm getting some regen that is giving a larger gain with the roofing filter installed to enable me to back the IF gain so much !!!!!!

Just my observations from here.

Cheers...........Graeme........G4CKH.
