Hi, I have been following this Relay Problem threads closely. I have a new
FT-1000MKV-Field which exhibited the receiver DE-sensing about 3 months
after purchase.
I have written two submissions about this problem. My problem is the same
as most of the responses I have read. The only significant difference or at
least I have not read this in the list of symptoms is that when the DE-sensing
occurs ONLY the main receiver is affected. I can be listening to the same
frequency with the sub receiver and the main receiver and the sub receiver may
read S-9 on the S-meter but the Main receiver only reads zero or 1 or 2
s-units. By bumping the PTT the main receiver will return to normal. Absolutely
no other control or antenna selection affects this condition. Only
momentary transmit will restore it. I have now started, at least every time I turn
the radio on, to set the transmit function to break-in keying and I set the
keyer speed to full and hold the "DOT" lever of the keyer for a couple of
seconds to create a fast RX/TX condition. Thinking this might keep the contacts
of whatever mysterious relay is causing the problem, clean.
Something is working because the problem has disappeared for the last month.
Now after reading the posts I am also disconnecting the antenna when I shut
down.
Please keep the posts coming on this problem with any new information. This
really concerns me. This is my first Yeasu since a FT-101E I owned in the
late 70's, which was trouble free.
Gosh, I have this new technology where I can't fix my own equipment.
Sincerely and 73's, Roger Horton K8CIX
