[1000mp] MKV RX Relay Problem

I have not had the problem with my new FT1000MP MkV Field. Fortunately, I've
always routed my antennas through an antenna switch which grounds the inputs
when I'm not using the transceiver.

That said, I do have an external wire antenna connected to the RX input.
While it passes through a lightning protector it is otherwise always
connected. What further precautions should I take to protect the receiver (I
do disconnect it during lightning storms and when I'm away)?
