[1000mp] MKV RX Relay Problem

This problem has been reported on MP's and Mk. V's since at least the Spring
of 1999, when I encountered it while on DXpedition to 3B9R with my then-new
MP. It was occurring after every 10 or 20 TX/RX changeovers.
I sent mine in on warranty, with explicit instructions how to reproduce the
problem, but the tech claimed not to be able to do so. He denied knowledge
of other such reports. He eventually replaced a handful of parts, including
a DIP relay, but the parts were unidentified, rendering them of no use in
identifying the problem or preventing reccurence. Had a list been provided,
I could have told you what relay to examine.
Symptoms initially were gone, but reappeared within two years, although not
as frequently, and they are present now.
In the intervening six and a half years, the problem has been reported
frequently on this list. To my knowledge, Yaesu has never admitted to the
problem, but that is no surprise, as their behavior was similar when their
key clicks were heavily discussed here.
Yaesu's deliberate indifference to these issues marks them, and I will not
purchase any new Yaesu gear. (How else can I demonstrate my displeasure?"
Good luck with solving your problem. I would also like to know which relay
is involved.

Subject: [1000mp] MKV RX Relay Problem
FT1000 MKV Problem:
Most of the time when I go from using the RX ANT position to the ANT
A position the sensitivity of the ANT A position is reduced from
normal by a varying amount, I can return the ANT A position to normal
sensitivity by going to transmit momentarily.
The situation is the same if I use RX ANT and ANT B. It is also the
same for the SUB-Receiver.
This sounds like a poor contact on a relay to me. Can anybody suggest
which relay it might be?
Thanks
Paul - KW7Y
