Hi Bryan,
This feature had me scratching my head for some time. The thing to remember
is that if you have adjusted the "PITCH" (PG 56) to suite your ear you must
then adjust the "TUNING METER" (PG 85) to re-center the signal on the meter.
When listening to a CW signal with the "SPOT" on the signal will merger with
the spot tone and become one (you can't hear the CW signal). Here is what I
did to set it up,
1) Adjust the PITCH to your liking (PG-56)
2) Find a good CW signal, toss in ALL of your narrow filters, notch and what
ever
3) ZERO beat the signal by ear and than turn on the "SPOT" it should be hard
to distinguish the spot tone from the CW signal.
4) Now CENTER the signal on the meter per the instructions on PG-85.
Your good to go, just remember if you decide to readjust the PITCH you will
have to recalibrate again.
Hope this helps,
Dennis KI8U
