[1000mp] spot

It's actually used to beat the received signal against the side tone to
make sure you have the CW station tuned to the center frequency of the
pass band and so you answer them on the same frequency they are
transmitting on.

Kinda hokey... The spot signal is a bad sine wave (almost a square wave)
at best and makes it a little difficult to do this.
