Robert,
Is the external meter reading PEAK or AVERAGE power? There will be a
difference, I have an low cost meter and calibrated it to match the
FT1000MP in the AM mode at 50 watts and checked it against the cw mode
key down at 100 watts. In the SSB mode the average power is less than
the peak readings. I trust the FT power meter. Happy Holidays
