I use a DVS-2 with an FT-1000mp. After recording some off-air material,
pressing the PLAY button allows me to hear what I recorded without
transmitting it. But activating the MOX button on the rig followed by the
PLAY button on the DVS-2 transmits the recorded material. During the
transmission, the microphone is disabled. It may be necessary to adjust the
MIC gain control to set the transmitted audio level if the DVS-2 level
differs radically from your normal microphone level.
To provide reasonably faithful reproduction open up the passband on both
receive and transmit and turn off any transmit equalization. You should also
be sure that the microphone processor if off.
If you have done the INRAD roofing filter mod the received audio will
possibly be a bit narrow so you might want to select the sub-receiver
(VFO-B) as the source for the DVS-2 (menu 4-6). You'll need to set the
sub-receiver to the same frequency as main.
