Jim,

I don't have a MKV, just an old FT-1000MP. I too needed a keypad (the only
thing I wanted was a "tune" button). Unless the process has changed, you
need only a push button switch with a series resistor (each function has a
unique value) from the tip of the remote jack on the transceiver to ground.
The 1/4 watt resistors that you can get from Radio Shack will work fine.
Alternately you could use some potentiometers that you've adjusted with an
ohm meter to provide the specific function of interest.

A table of the values is included in the 'MP' manual and I'd guess it's in
yours also.

Good luck & 73s,

Dave Cohen,

Subject: [1000mp] FT-1000MP MKV Field Keypad schematic?

I am trying to locate the instructions on how to build the remote pad for my
MKV Field. I really don't want or need the full capabilities of the FH-1
remote, just a few selected functions... Please email direct to
nz8j at woh.rr.com if you have any info..
Thanks
Tim
