I don't think this is a bombshell. Did anyone think Vertex was going to 
produce the Mark V series forever? The series is getting long in the tooth. 
The MP came out in '96, the Mark V in '00 and the Field in 2002. It's now 
2005. I love my Mark V Field, but I understand that Yaesu has to move on.

I doubt that Yaesu will stop supporting these anytime soon, given the number 
of MPs out there and the kind of ops that generally own them. I wouldn't 
panic just yet- and who knows, just maybe the FT-2000 will be as good or 
better than the MP series.
