hi,
I don't want to jump on the repair discontinuation bandwaggon but I have
two more general comments:
It seems that Yaesu opts for the Japanese microcontrollers for the rigs'
control units. For example in the new FT8x7 series Hitachi HF64 and the
Asahi AK77 series DSPs. In my personal opinion the circuits in the
higher end of the range would provide better servicability. However even
these things could be repaired (=replaced) with some technical knowledge
and experimental entrepreneurship.
Regardless of all the faults and design leaks found and widely published
I think that Yaesu is pulling the ham radio rig market ahead.
