Just to present the opposite view....my wife's car (4 letter American
made)is 7 yrs old. I've maintained it well but that doesn't account for the
11, yes 11 recalls by the manufacturer. The most serious was faulty front
springs. We had an appt to have the springs replaced. One week before the
front right spring snapped and tore a slice out of the tire. Thank god she
was only pulling out of a parking spot and not heading down the highway at
65 mph.

The real fact is nothing made by man is perfect and never will be. Read any
review you want on eham and you will get both "great" and "junk" for the
same item.

Correct because they get in accidents and are not maintained.  Plus most
people wish them to be in a junk yard after a couple of years  because
they want  new paint.   I drive 20, 30 and one almost 40 years old
because I want to and because they will actually last that long if taken
care of.  I  have a friend that does also.

Statistics is usually always they way one want it to be and need facts
behind them to explain them.
